When we're blissfully in love, it's tempting to let our friends and family in on the happy news via Facebook or Twitter. But just like in the real world, social networks have their own set of relationship etiquette and not everything about your love life should be published for the whole world to see.
It boils down to knowing what's socially acceptable to post on your Wall. Lisa Daily, dating coach and author of the bestselling book Stop Getting Dumped, offers advice on how to use Facebook responsibly around relationships. Don't be guilty of these -- or you could find yourself being unfriended or unfollowed.
Do post appropriate couple photos
Uploading your couple pics are perfectly fine -- as long as you don't publish photos showing steamy PDA (public display of affection). "Never post a photo you wouldn't want your mom, minister, or future employer to see, because that's who's looking," says Daily.
A general rule of thumb is no kissing with your mouth open, no hands above mid thigh or anywhere near your boobs. Keep those for private viewing, otherwise you'd risk coming across as an attention seeker.
Do keep your lovey-dovey messages private
There's nothing more cringe-worthy than seeing loved-up friends constantly posting mushy "babyyy miss you soooo much" comments and declarations of undying love. If you must use social networking sites to let your other half know how you feel, stick to private messages.
"First, your friends don't really want to read your pet names and inside jokes. Second, think about why you'd want to make something personal between you and your guy so public -- are you involved in a relationship or putting on a show? Usually when someone spends a lot of time trying to convince other people what a great relationship she has, it's because she doesn't believe it herself," adds Daily.
Don't update your relationship status too early
And then there's the tricky relationship status. When should you let your friends know you're "in a relationship"? Daily thinks it's wise to wait until you've mutually decided to be exclusive before you change your Facebook status to reflect that -- for two reasons.
One: "Nothing kills a relationship faster than jumping the gun," warns Daily, so you don't want to scare your new date off with too much too soon. And two: If you announce your new relationship prematurely and should it not work out, everyone from your colleague to your first-grade ex-classmate will know about it.
Don't pretend to be single if you're not
However, if you're in a serious relationship, engaged or married, never imply you're single and available -- it can seem as though you're looking to keep your options open. "It's disrespectful to your sweetie, and unfair to anybody who gathers up the nerve to flirt with you. It's a mark of insecurity to need that constant reassurance that people are attracted to you," says Daily.

DupeFree Pro - Are You Duplicating Your Own Content?
Sounds crazy but it's possible you might be creating duplicates of
your own content without even knowing it.
If the Search Engines see duplicates of your pages they
automatically choose which page to rank and shove the rest in to
their supplemental index (the black hole of Search Engine traffic).
It's important you understand how to avoid duplicating your own
content so that you can stay in control of which of your pages rank
in the Search Engines.
The two main possible causes for this are:
1) Duplicate Domain URL's
2) Internal Duplicates

Duplicate Domain URL's
--------------------------------------------------
The Search Engines view all the following URL's as *separate* pages
even though they all actually point to the same page...
http://yourdomain.com
http://yourdomain.com/
http://yourdomain.com/index.html
http://www.yourdomain.com
http://www.yourdomain.com/
http://www.yourdomain.com/index.html
If you (or others) are linking to your site using a variety of
these different URL's you'll not only be diluting PR (Page Rank) on
your site but you also stand the chance of having your content
labelled as duplicate.
At the time of writing Google is known to be aware of this issue
and are working to solve it. However, I urge you to not leave it to
fate. Take control of the situation as soon as you can.
Fortunately the work around is very simple and only involves a
small code to be placed in to your htaccess file on your webserver
(this works on Apache servers only).

Internal Duplicates

Are you 100% certain you do not have duplicates of your own content
within your own sites?
If you are using one of the popular free content management systems
(i.e. WordPress) your site might already be suffering from this.
For example, WordPress the popular Blog management system,
automatically creates archive and category pages on your Blog. The
default settings of WordPress result in these archive and category
pages containing duplicates of the exact same posts appearing
elsewhere in your Blog.
When Google finds all the multiple versions of your post their bot
tries to determine which page to rank and places all the rest in to
the supplemental index.
This might not sound like a major problem because one way or
another your content it still getting ranked but if it is left up
to the Search Engine bots you may not get the page *you* want to
rank.
Some content management systems create other kinds of internal
duplicates such as different formats of the same page (i.e. PDF,
text, word doc).
Perform the following Google search if you want to see how many
pages your website has in the supplemental index:
[UPDATE] the search syntax for viewing pages in the
supplemental index at Google no longer works. However, I've
found a website that shows how continue doing this:
http://www.ksl-consulting.co.uk/google_supplemental_result.html
Pages in the supplemental index are known to hardly ever get
traffic if at all. This is until they move out of the supplemental
index, however, many report this as hard to achieve.
The work around for this issue is to tell the Search Engine spiders
to ignore specific locations on your website. This will enable you
to control which pages will be indexed and ranked.
You can do this by adding the following code to a 'robots.txt' file
at the root of your website:
User-agent:*
Disallow: /example/directory/
Disallow: /another/example/directory/
Disallow: /one/more/example/directory/
The first part 'User-agent:*' causes the following statements to
apply to all search engine bots that read the robots.txt file.
The 'Disallow: /.../' lines are where you list each directory
location on your webserver that you want the Search Engine bots to
ignore (i.e. NOT index).
So in our above example we are telling all search engine bots to
*not* index any webpage or indexable file located in the three
stated directory locations on our website.
Doing this correctly can really help you control which pages are
chosen by the SE's to rank in their results.
If you're not sure how all this works please do take the time to
understand the robots.txt properly before you implement it. Search
Google for info on robots.txt and also check out the Wikipedia page
below:

If you are putting in all the effort required to make sure your
content is unique you really don't want to fall over at this last
hurdle.

Duplicate content is a pretty complex subject so I thought I'd send
you some handy duplicate content tid-bits.
Hopefully these may help clear up any possible confusion you have
regarding how duplicate content is viewed through the eye's of the
Search Engines...

Code vs. Text Ratio

Do the Search Engines consider the code of your page when looking
for duplicate content?
For example, if your code is huge and the unique HTML elements on
each new page are small and few, will these pages be flagged as
duplicate?
Fortunately we have discovered that this is not a concern to the
Search Engines. In an interview with Vanessa Fox from Google's
Webmaster Central she clearly mentioned that Google only looks at
the content on your page and is not really interested in the code.

Navigation Elements vs. Unique Content Ratio
--------------------------------------------------
Navigational and page layout elements (also known as boiler plate
text) usually need to be present on every page of your website.
After all, your visitors need a way to easily navigate your site.
So if your site has a large navigation bar, plenty of header &
footer items with just a small area left for content can this
result in your pages being picked up as duplicates?
According to seomoz.org Google (and Yahoo! and MSN) have been
around for long enough to be familiar with website layout and so
they do recognise that permanent elements on sites are perfectly
normal. They state that the Search Engine's simply pay attention to
the "unique" areas of your pages and usually ignore the rest.

If you've obtained licensed content from another online source and
want to make it available to your visitors but avoid duplicate
content problems what should you do?
Simply use the following meta tag in your page html header:

will allow your visitors to view the page and link to it plus the
links on the page itself will also still carry value.

abuse has taken place. It does happen though, even on big name
domains.
*Penalties* only really happen if hundreds or thousands of your

little to no unique content of its own.
Lack of unique content is particularly hazardous for new sites or
sites that have recently changed ownership.
At the end of the day the best thing you can do is just make every
possible attempt to provide your own original content to your
visitors. As a result you should stay clear of any severe penalties
or supplemental index issues.
The issue of duplicate content remains a relatively grey area and
is still widely debated. Either way you stand on the matter, it's
definitely something to be aware of and do your best to prevent.

My daughter and I went through the McDonald's driveway window and I gave the cashier a $5 note.
Our total was $4.25, so I also handed her 25c.
She said, 'you gave me too much money.'
I said, 'Yes I know, but this way you can just give me a dollar coin back.'
She sighed and went to get the manager who asked me to repeat my request.
I did so, and he handed me back the 25c, and said 'We're sorry but we don’t do that kind of thing.'
The cashier then proceeded to give me back 75 cents in change.

We had to have the garage door repaired.
The repairman told us that one of our problems was that we did not have a 'large' enough motor on the opener.
I thought for a minute, and said that we had the largest one made at that time, a 1/2 horsepower.
He shook his head and said, 'You need a 1/4 horsepower.'
I responded that 1/2 was larger than 1/4 and he said, 'Nooo, it's not. Four is larger than two.'
We haven't used that repairman since. Happened in Ipswich , Qld.

I live in a semi rural area.
We recently had a new neighbour call the local council P & W office to request the removal of the WOMBAT CROSSING sign on our road.
The reason: 'Too many wombats are being hit by cars out here! I don't think this is a good place for them to be crossing anymore.'

When my husband and I arrived at a car dealership to pick up our car after a service, we were told the keys had been locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door.
