Invitation FACEBOOK - virus

PLEASE CIRCULATE THIS NOTICE TO YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY ON YOUR CONTACT LIST.

In the coming days, you should be aware…

Do not open any message with an attachment called:"Invitation FACEBOOK", regardless of who sent it.
It is a virus that opens an Olympic torch that burns the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone you had in your address book.
That's why you should send this message to all your contacts. It is better to receive this email 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.
If you receive E-MAIL called: "Invitation FACEBOOK", though sent by a friend, do not open it and delete it immediately. CNN said it is a new virus discovered recently and that has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever.
It is a Trojan Horse that asks you to install an adobe flash plug-in. Once you install it, it's all over. And there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information of their function is saved.

A Personal Message from Friendster's CEO

Dear fellow Friendster members,

As many of you may know, Friendster announced that it is re-launching itself as a social gaming portal and launched a beta version of the new Friendster a couple of weeks ago. The beta version was well received. I am pleased to announce that the new Friendster is going live thereby enabling all our users to login to the new Friendster using your existing Friendster username and password.

Friendster has touched the lives of many. Since MOL, the company I founded acquired Friendster in early last year; many people have come up to me to tell me how Friendster has changed their lives. Many have told me that they have found their life partners over Friendster. Just last week, a successful Internet entrepreneur in Singapore told me that her success was triggered by promoting her business on Friendster. Friendster pioneered social networking and ignited the social media industry that has created billion dollar companies such as Facebook and Twitter, companies that may not have existed in their present form if not for Friendster's early innovation.

Today, Friendster is in a unique position to take advantage on the growth of social gaming. Through its relationship with MOL, which has a 10 year history in working with gaming companies, Friendster has both the experience and track record to make innovations in this space.

Today, as Friendster reinvents itself as a social gaming destination that enables its users to create multiple avatars, play games and enjoy rewards; I hope that all of you will wish us luck and continue to support us in our new reincarnation. The new Friendster is not perfect and we will continue to add new games and features such as localization and rewards over the next few months. Our team is working hard on adding these features and welcomes your suggestions and comments on how we can better serve your needs as a social gaming and entertainment destination.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your support and hope that all of you will enjoy the new Friendster as Friendster continues to innovate to serve and entertain you better.

Yours truly,
Ganesh Kumar Bangah
Chief Executive Officer

Handphone shut down scam - pls read

This email was sent to me by a friend.Thought I would share it. Better to be safe then sorry.

CLEVER TRICK. BY GETTING YOU TO SHUT DOWN YOUR MOBILE , YOUR WORRIED
FAMILY MEMBERS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO CONTACT YOU TO VERIFY YOUR SAFETY!

Just be careful.

Its all started when I received a call from someone claiming that he was from M1 or Singtel or Starhub and he asked me to shutdown my phone for 2 hours for 3G update to take place. As I was rushing for a meeting, I did not question him and shutdown my cell phone.

After 45 minutes I felt very suspicious since the caller did not even introduce his name. I quickly turned on my cell phone and I received several calls from my family members and the others were from the number that had called me earlier - 93954380.

I called my parents and I was shocked that they sounded very worried asking me whether I am safe. My parents told me that they had received a call from someone claiming that they had me with them and asking for money to let me free. The call was so real and my parents even heard
'my voice' crying out loud asking for help. My parent was at the bank waiting for next call to
proceed for money transfer. I told my parents that I am safe and asked them to lodge a police report.

Right after that I received another call from the guy asking me to shutdown my cell phone for another 1 hour which I refused to do and hung up. They keep calling my cell phone until the battery had run down. I myself lodged a police report and I was informed by the officer that
there were many such scams reported. MOST of the cases reported that the victim had already
transferred the money! And it is impossible to get back the money.

Be careful as this kind of scam might happened to any of us!!! Those guys are so professional and very convincing during calls. If you are asked to shut down your cell phone for updates by the service provider, ASK AROUND!
Your family or friends might receive the same call.

Be Safe and Stay Alert!

New Scams with Mobile Phones

please do take note... received this info from email...

Please be cautious …………

READ BEFORE WATCHING - cell phone as gun

Received this from an email... not sure how true it is...

WOW!!!

Most see airport security as a pain. Some feel violated.
When you watch this clip, you'll understand why they want your cell phone through the x-ray machine.
If you get asked to test your cell phone at the airport, this is the reason.
Cell phone guns have arrived. They are real.
The attached video clip shows how cell phone guns operate.
These phones are not in the U.S. yet, but they are in use overseas.

Beneath the digital phone face is a .22 caliber handgun capable of firing four rounds in rapid succession using the standard telephone keypad.
European law enforcement officials are stunned by the discovery of these deadly decoys.
They say phone guns are changing the rules of engagement in Europe.
Only when you have one in your hand do you realize that they are heavier than a regular cell phone.

Be patient if security asks to look at your cell phone or turn it on to show that it works.
They have a good reason!

Wake up to our NEW WORLD!!
We shouldn't complain about airport security 'invading your privacy.'

GPS (IMPORTANT)

This gives us something to think about with all our new electronic technology.

GPS
A couple of weeks ago a friend told me that someone she knew had their car broken into while they were at a football match. Their car was parked on the green which was adjacent to the football stadium and specially allotted to football fans. Things stolen from the car included a garage door remote control, some money and a GPS which had been prominently mounted on the dashboard.

When the victims got home, they found that their house had been ransacked and just about everything worth anything had been stolen.
The thieves had used the GPS to guide them to the house. They then used the garage remote control to open the garage door and gain entry to the house. The thieves knew the owners were at the football game, they knew what time the game was scheduled to finish and so they knew how much time they had to clean up the house. It would appear that they had brought a truck to empty the house of its contents.
MOBILE PHONE

I never thought of this.......
This lady has now changed her habit of how she lists her names on her mobile phone after her handbag was stolen. Her handbag, which contained her cell phone, credit card, wallet... Etc... Was stolen.

20 minutes later when she called her hubby, from a pay phone telling him what had happened, hubby says 'I received your text Asking about our Pin number and I've replied a little while ago.'
When they rushed down to the bank, the bank staff told them all the money was already withdrawn. The thief had actually used the stolen cell phone to text 'hubby' in the contact list and got hold of the pin number. Within 20 minutes he had withdrawn all the money from their bank account.

Moral of the lesson:
Do not disclose the relationship between you and the people in your contact list. Avoid using names like Home, Honey, Hubby, Sweetheart, Dad, Mom, etc.... And very importantly, when sensitive info is being asked through texts, CONFIRM by calling back. Also, when you're being text by friends or family to meet them somewhere, be sure to call back to confirm that the message came from them. If you don't reach them, be very careful about going places to meet 'family and friends' who text you..

*PLEASE PASS THIS ON
* I never thought about THAT! As of now, I no longer have 'home' listed on my cell phone.

Freaky!

This is a true story of a young college gurl who passed away last month. Her name is Priya. She was hit by a lorry and died on the spot. She had a boyfriend named Shankar. Both of them are true lovers. They always hog on the phone til the extent of you never seeing her without her handphone.

She spends 3/4 of the day talking to shankar. Priya's family knows about their relationship. Shankar is very close with Priya's family and vice versa.
(just imagine their love) Before she passed away she always tell her frens :"If I were to die, please bury me with my handphone" she also said the same thing to her parents.

After her death, ppl can't carry her coffin.. i was there. a lot of them tried to do so but still can't, everybody including me, had tried to carry the coffin, the result is still the same. Eventually, they called their neighbour, a "bomoh" from thailand (kap Darin), who is a fren of her father. He sat and started speaking to himself slowly. after a few minutes, he said "this girl misses something here". Then her frens told Darin bout her intentions to burn her with her phone. He then opened the coffin and place her phone and SIM card inside the casket. after that they tried to carry the coffin. It could be moved and they carried it into the van easily. all of us were shocked.

Priya's parents didnt inform Shankar that Priya had passed away. after 2 weeks Shankar called Priya's mom. Shankar : "Atte, I'm coming home 2day. cook something nice for me. Dont tell Priya that i'm coming home 2day. i wanna surprise her." Her mother replied....."u come home first, i wanna tell u something very important." after he came from shah alam, they told him the truth about Priya.

Shankar thinks that they were playing a fool. he was laughing and said "dont try to fool me. tell Priya to come out. i have a gift for her.pls stop this nonsense". then they show him the original death certificate to him. they gave him proof to make him believe. (Shankar started to sweat)

He said... "its not true. we spoke yesterday. she still calls me.Shankar was shaking. suddenly, shankar's phone rang. "see this is from Priya. see this..." he showed the phone to priya's family. all of them told him to answer. he talked using the loudspeaker mode. all of them heard his conversation.

Loud and clear. no cross lines, no humming. it is the actual voice of Priya & there is no way others could use her sim card since it was nailed inside the coffin that's why they were so shocked and asked for pak darin's help again.
pak darin brought his master (Tok Chen) to solve this matter. he & Darin worked for 5 hours. than they discovered one thing....

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELLPHONE COULD DO

Something to learn about...
THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELLPHONE COULD DO...

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.
Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival.

Check out the things that you can do with it: -

*EMERGENCY*

*I*
*The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112.*
If you find yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked.
**Try it out.**

*II*
*Have you locked your keys in the car? Does you car have remote keys?*
This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:
If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away, and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your
car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk).
Editor's Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!"*

*III*
Hidden Battery power
Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

AND

*IV*
How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?
To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:
* # 0 6 #
A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. When your phone gets stolen, you can
phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, your phone will be totally useless. You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either. If everybody does this, there would be no point in
people stealing mobile phones.
